Restoration Gallery
In addition to the Restoration Reports, below is a collection of photos recording progress around the loco during this mammoth underetaking. The photograph order in all the gallery sections is now reversed, making the newest photos visible first. They are displayed mostly in chronological order, occationally with inset photos of previous or current states.

A End
Much of the heavy work has been carried out here with the whole engine, transmission and cooler group bays cleaned and repainted whilst the space was empty. This section also includes all brake frame equipment.
The Maybach MD655 power unit was loaned to D7076, creating the 'Wesmek'. This will still require a full strip, service and rebuild before returning to Prince. The transmission has been swapped for our spare which saw use in D1015 on the main line.

B End
This half of Western Prince is mostly complete, so generally there is less to document. That said, the cooler group needs to be lifted to get decent access to the transmission to allow the reverser to be attended to and for electrical conduits to be reached.

Cabs & Electrics
The biggest challenges facing the restoration team. Prince has quite possibly never been rewired apart from some modifications and additions made when the fleet were converted to dual brakes.
All of the existing rubber coated cable is to be removed and replaced with polyrad. New switches are being installed where possible and as you will see all of the equipment is being restored to an extremely high standard.

External Works
Another large problem being attended to is the bodywork which has suffered with corrosion. All locomotives have this problem one way or another and Prince is no exception, that said these were built to last and, despite looking fragile on some photos, there is nothing that cannot be put right, just many hours and new steel as required.
